Thank you for visiting GK.com. Gustav Klimt is probably best known for his paintings of women, most notably The Kiss. He was an extremely innovative yet controversial painter. He was one of the founders and president of the Secession - a group of artists who strove to make Austrian art internationally known. He never married, had numerous lovers and children (some unknown to him), and always painted in a blue robe. Klimt was misunderstood, both personally and artistically, but he remained steadfast in his originality and vision. From his beautiful portraits to his lush landscapes, Klimt has left a lasting impression on the art world and humankind in general. This site hopes to provide you with a deeper understanding and appreciation for the artist and his works.
