What POTS is

This disorder is characterized by the body's inability to make the necessary adjustments to counteract gravity when standing up.

The defining symptom of POTS is an excessive heart rate increase upon standing. However, there are a multitude of other symptoms that often accompany this syndrome.

POTS patients tend to range between the ages of 15 and 50. Women are 5 times more likely to develop POTS than men. And POTS can run in some families.
