Babes 4 A Cure has year around activities to raise money, and to come together for a good
cause.
March 2008- Save Second Base
This is a movie night at our local theater. They agree to give us the proceeds from all the ticket
sales for the night. The theater is a bar/movie theater which is always fun. This is the second
time we are holding this event, as it was very successful before.
May 2008- Booze for Boobs
This event will be in its second year, and was higly successful last year. Girls and guys
volunteer to auction them selves as dates to raise money. There is a raffle, not to mention
a bunch of free stuff from donations. We raised about $5000 last year and hope to double that
this year.
June 2008- National Race for the Cure
This is the big event of the year. It is what we raise the money for, and it is defianetly the
best event. As a group we head up to Washington, D.C and divide into two teams: walk and run.
Then we all participate in the event and meet afterwards to enjoy the events of the day and meet
all the teams participating, or a least as many as we can. Hopefully one day we will not need this walk anymore, and
hopefully we are helping each year by raising more money to help find a cure.

"My breast cancer was caught very early thanks to my doctor a wonderful woman named Elsie
Giogi, who just recently passed away after practicing medicine into her 80's. At the time, she
had suggested I go for a baseline mammogram before age 40 because I had fibrocystic breasts. The
mammogram discovered a tiny tumor, and it was so small that they were able to take it out very
easily. I had a lumpectomy. Unfortunately, they did miss a little of the cancer, and two years
later I had a mastectomy. But hey, I'm here, I'm alive, and I'm going to live to be 100!."
